Outdoor Gear & Sporting Goods

Three materials. Three lines.

Packs, shells, and components split. Fiber content and country of origin have to be on the file, not reconstructed after a CPSC or textile hold. A licensed broker still signs the 7501.

LAX and EWR on one file. CPSC is a gate when the article is a consumer product.

The invoice that fails

“Outdoor kit” is not a heading.

A pack that reads as one SKU is often three facts on a 7501. The textile. The plastic hardware. The metal. Houses that file a single 42 or 62 dump pay for it in CF-28s — not on the trail date.

We split the line while the aircraft is still over the water. If fiber % is missing, we pause. We do not invent a suffix to look fast.

Hardware in the pack can split from the textile.

01 · The split

Split the pack. Then transmit.

Shell

Fiber % on the line.

Nylon, polyester, cotton. Waterproof claims do not pick the heading. Missing fiber is a pause.

Fill

Down is not synthetic.

Insulation can pull extra facts. Unnamed “fill” is a pause. FWS can sit on some down.

Hardware

Buckles are not the pack.

Plastic and metal fittings may be mere, or they may split. We read the invoice.

Origin

Cut is not the mill.

A Vietnam sew with China fabric is a tracing problem when cotton is in the BOM.

02 · The gate

CPSC is on the consumer article.

Sporting goods sold to consumers can pull CPSC. Certificates belong in the vault when the facts require them. We will not transmit a 7501 that still owes that packet if the article is in scope.

Textile fiber for classification still has to match the file. A hangtag is evidence. It is not the entry.

03 · The lane

LAX for Asia shells. EWR for European hardware.

Seasonal drops still move as licensed entries. The file does not care which door it used. Repeating SKUs stay mapped so the next season is not a first-time classification.

Fiber and origin sit on the invoice — or we pause.

04 · What we need

Send the invoice. We will say if the file holds.

  1. Fiber / materials Textile %, plastic, metal. “Outdoor kit” is not enough.
  2. Fill Down, synthetic, none. Species facts if down is in play.
  3. Kit contents Pack, poles, tools — named. A set is not a heading.
  4. CPSC posture If it is a consumer product, the certificate facts in the vault.
  5. Country of origin Where it was made — and fabric origin if UFLPA can touch cotton.

GRI on textile and essential character — not a SKU mapped to last season’s 42.

Entry

3461 / 7501

The entry is built as the invoice is read. A licensed broker still signs.

Questions we actually get

The file before the appointment.

Can a backpack be one HTS line?

Often the textile pack is one heading. Poles, tools, or a stove in the same carton can split. We read the packing list.

Do you need fiber content on technical shells?

Yes. Waterproof marketing does not replace the percentage. Missing fiber is a pause.

What belongs on the commercial invoice?

Materials, fiber %, kit contents, origin. A catalog spread is not the proof.

Do you clear outdoor gear at LAX?

LAX takes Asia shells. EWR takes European hardware. The licensed file is the same desk.

The desk

Bring one messy outdoor invoice.

A consultation returns classification notes, PGA flags, and a flat fee. If the file is not one we can defend, we will say so in the memo.
