Micromobility & E-Bikes

Battery, motor, frame — split.

Lithium and origin tracing are the usual pause. We will not file a single heading over a mixed machine just to clear the weekend. A licensed broker still signs the 7501.

LAX and EWR on one file. UN 3481 is a gate, not a packing note.

The invoice that fails

“E-bike” is not a heading.

A complete machine that reads as one SKU is often four facts on a 7501. The frame. The motor. The battery. The spare charger. Houses that file a single 87 dump pay for it in lithium holds and CF-28s.

We split the line while the aircraft is still over the water. If watt-hours are missing, we pause. We do not invent a suffix to look fast.

01 · The split

Open the machine. Then transmit.

Battery

Watt-hours in the vault.

In equipment versus spare. UN 3481 facts before ACE. Missing Wh is a pause.

Motor

Power on the invoice.

Wattage and whether it is the essential character. A “kit motor” is not the complete bicycle.

Frame

Complete versus CKD.

A frame and a boxed bike are different files. We will not file a complete heading over a kit.

Origin

Cells are not the weld.

Section 301 and tracing care where the battery was made. We will not file a single country over a mixed build.

02 · The gate

Lithium is a number in the vault.

Watt-hours, configuration, and spare versus installed sit on the file before we transmit. We will not send a 7501 that still owes UN 3481 facts. CPSC can sit on consumer e-bikes. The packet is in the vault — or we pause.

Origin is the other hold. A Taiwan frame with China cells is a tracing problem. The dashboard shows the yellow line before the belt.

03 · The lane

LAX for Asia builds. EWR for European frames.

Complete bikes and CKD kits use the door the freight actually books. The file does not change. Repeating SKUs stay mapped so the next container is not a first-time classification.

04 · What we need

Send the invoice. We will say if the file holds.

  1. Complete vs kit Assembled bike, CKD, or spare parts. “E-bike” is not enough.
  2. Battery data Wh, in equipment or spare, cell origin if 301 is in play.
  3. Motor Wattage and whether it travels with the frame.
  4. CPSC posture Consumer e-bikes can pull product-safety facts into the vault.
  5. Country of origin Frame, motor, cells — named if they differ.

Questions we actually get

The file before the appointment.

Can a complete e-bike be one HTS line?

Often the complete bicycle is one heading. Spare chargers and extra batteries in the same crate can split. Wh still sits in the vault.

What if we import CKD kits?

A kit is not a complete bicycle. We classify what is in the box. We will not file a complete heading over a bag of parts to look fast.

What belongs on the commercial invoice?

Complete versus kit, motor watts, battery Wh, origin of cells and frame. A spec sheet helps. A lifestyle photo does not replace it.

Do you clear e-bikes at LAX?

LAX takes Asia builds. EWR takes European frames. The licensed file is the same desk.

The desk

Bring one messy e-bike invoice.

A consultation returns classification notes, PGA flags, and a flat fee. If the file is not one we can defend, we will say so in the memo.
